The Sacraments
Baptism is one of the sacraments of the church. It is a rite of initiation into the Family of God and is available to persons professing their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. The UMC recognizes the baptism of other churches and denominations baptizing with a Trinitarian formula: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The UMC also practices infant baptism for children whose parents or guardians profess their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior and promise to raise their children in the church and teach t e fa1ith.

Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month. The UMC offers communion to all persons trying to live a Christian life, irrespective of denominational affiliation. Communion is distributed to shut-ins monthly by lay volunteers. The sacrament may be made available to persons at other times agreed upon by the pastor and the recipient.

Confirmation is offered for students in grades seven through twelve who are experiencing the Christian faith, inquiring what the faith means to them, and are contemplating making their own profession of faith. They learn about Jesus, the history of the church, early and more recent Christians, how their faith can help them, and how the gifts which God has given them may help the church and the world. This is a process of several months. Mentors are used to help the youth and to share their own faith experiences. Class time, day trips, service projects, and a weekend excursion are planned in order for the youth to grow together in their faith.
